The Monmouth County Prosecutor is looking for a motivated and trustworthy individual(s) to fill opening(s) for the position of County Detective within the Financial Crimes/Public Corruption Bureau of the Investigation Division of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

Job Description:
County Detectives assigned to the Financial Crimes/Public Corruption Bureau conduct sensitive and complex investigations into a variety of theft offenses which involve some element of fraud or deception. Investigations are also conducted into all reported crimes occurring in Monmouth County that involve the violation of the public trust.
The financial type crimes investigated by these detectives include, but are not limited to, bank fraud, embezzlement, extortion, forgeries, fraudulently obtaining and using credit cards, home repair scams, investment schemes and money laundering. Such investigations require an interest and extensive experience in reviewing financial statements and bank records in an effort to trace monetary movement.
The public corruption type crimes investigated by these detectives include embezzlement of public funds, misuse of public office, bribery, official misconduct, election fraud, misconduct by corporate officials, bid rigging, and allegations of criminal misconduct by attorneys.
County Detectives must be able to work closely with Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutors during investigations and as criminal cases are prepared for court. These detectives are responsible for preparing accurate reports detailing their investigative activity, filing forms, keeping detailed records, executing warrants, serving subpoenas, gathering and analyzing evidence, conducting interviews and interrogations, and testifying in court.
Candidate must be in good physical condition to perform the assigned duties associated with the position to include making arrests, executing search warrants and completing the physical demands of the training academy (if not currently PTC certified).
Salary:
The salary range for 2013 is $50,000.00 to $127,000, based upon the educational background and experience of the candidate.
